AGENDA FOR THE MEETING
Schedule Important Events to be conducted in the year 2024-2025.
Finalise names of Member(s) Responsible to conduct the Scheduled Events.
Following decisions were taken :-
1) CENERS -K will conduct four major Events as under:-
- a) RK Datta Memorial Lecture cum Panel Discussion to be held physically in Guwahati in the second week
of September 2024. Oil India will be requested to sponsor the Event. Vice President J N Chaudhury will be
the Pointsperson of CENERS to organise the Event. He would interact with Oil India officials and also
shortlist a panel of speakers who would be invited to participate. JNC will periodically keep GC members
informed of progress made towards holding the Event on schedule.
- b) CENERS-K Economic Summit will be held in partnership with ACAE on the 20th of December 2024 in a
five star property in Kolkata. Prof Suman K Mukerjee was nominated as the Pointsperson of CENERS -K.
Members suggested that the concept note that was drafted by Lt Gen Mukherjee for the Economic Summit
2023 , which, due to reasons explained in our Annual Report, could not be held , should be adopted.
Members suggested that Dr Amitabh Kanth, Mr M D Pai, Prof Sanjeev Sanyal and Mr Mohan Guruswamy
should be invited. Prof Mukerjee was also asked to invite at least two industrialists of national eminence for
the seminar. Maj Gen Arun Roye was requested to contact the economists and finalise their participation.
Maj Gen Roye and Prof Mukerjee were requested to periodically keep the GC members informed of the
progress.
- c) CENERS-K Calcutta Dialogue will be held on the 07/08 March 2025 in partnership with ICC&I in a
Hybrid format at the ICC&I Auditorium in Kolkata. President ACM Arup Raha and Vice President Maj Gen
Arun Roye were jointly to form the team of CENERS and interact with Dr Rajeev Singh, the Director
General of ICC&I to finalise the format and conduct of the Event. It was decided that six/ seven speakers
would be fielded as follows:-
- i) Geopolitical Overview- Two eminent strategic analyst ( preferably from the IFS)
- ii) Security Issues- Three speakers from CENERS-K
iii) One/ Two Industrialist- Speakers to be invited by ICC&I
- iv) An eminent Economist to speak on the necessity of carrying out trade and commerce with China
and ways to regulate the trade to suit our interests.
- d) CENERS-K will hold a RTD in ICCR conference room in April 2025. The exact date will be finalised
after ascertaining the availability of the premises.The theme/ topic for the RTD will be ” Climate Induced
Conflicts Increase in North Eastern States” Issues such as ‘ Conflict and Climate’ ,’ Climate Change and
Security Risks’, and ‘Climate Change in Northeast India ‘ will be deliberated upon. This particular event will
be a CENERS Event. Ms Karuna Singh , CENERS Member and also Regional Director-Earth Day Network
accepted the request of being the Pointsperson for the Event. She was to draft a abstract note which
would be discussed and also finalise speakers and NGO partners who are similarly working on environ-
mental issues who could be invited to the event.
It was decided that in addition to the above four events , two/ three RTD’s would be held on themes and topics
recommended by members from time to time. Executive Director was asked to plan for conduct of the RTD’ at the ICCR premises and at the Victory Lounge of the Army Officers Institute,Fort William.
