In other words, the two days of deliberations and strategic sessions on the theme, “Health for Inclusive Growth” will be addressed through two focused platforms thus providing a holistic coverage.

Premise:

Health outcomes are closely linked with economic growth and development. Good health allows individuals to contribute to society to their maximum potential. That is, health is critical to human capital accumulation and labour productivity. This holds true throughout an individual’s life.

Inclusive Growth has taken into account the aspect of economic growth heading towards equitable allocation of resources with benefits rendered to every section of society, leading to sustainable economic development as a whole. It addresses the basic interrelated issues like education, health, employment, rural-urban infrastructure and financial inclusion. Under these elements inclusive growth allows people to “contribute to” and “benefit from” economic growth on the whole on equitable terms.

Of these elements, healthcare is considered as the most important element through which citizens are assured of the basic social security of health measures including quality management, patient safety, efficiency and appropriateness of care. In order to learn, examine, analyze and implement the policies needed for economic development of the country, inclusive healthcare policies and facilities are essential and necessary pre-conditions.

We know that the contribution to the health of a population derives from basic three social determinants of living, which are as follows:

  1. Living conditions with respect to nutritious food, safe drinking water and sanitation facilities.
  2. Well maintained health facilities with respect to development of hospitals, pharmaceutical facilities.
  3. Reliable logistics, healthcare delivery strategies of hospitals, quality medicine and technologies associated with healthcare facilities.

Thus, there remains a need for the Country to improve Quality, Efficiency and Equity by providing the best healthcare facilities to all, with improvement in the economic reforms of India heading towards progressive economic growth with strong equality. This 2-day event aims to deliberate in detail the concept of inclusive healthcare, including its importance, challenges and measures towardsits implementation in India to usher in the attainment of inclusive growth in India.

Objective:

  • Health and Welfare is one of the critical foundation blocks of Economic Development.
  • Health and Welfare is a vast area, for instance, it includes various elements like IT, Sanitation, Hygiene, Policies, Nutrition, Hospital, Diagnostic, Pharma, Water, Equipment, Insurance. The list is by no means comprehensive.
  • CENERS-K, as a thinktank, is primarily focused on the development of the North Eastern States of the country (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura). It is now transcending the national borders with an attempt to connect North East with other South Asian countries such as Myanmar, Bangladesh, Bhutan and also countries in the Indo-Pacific region.
  • The North East has a distinctly difficult terrain with huge logistical challenges and significant gaps in healthcare. In creating a blue print or a plan for economic development of this region, the improvement of health and wellbeing is a pre-requisite.Economic development will be impossible without attention to ensuring adequate health and wellbeing of the people of the region.
  • As indeed, true of India as a whole, the North East has also seen progress, particularly in infrastructure and healthcare delivery. But a lot more needs to be done to support the ambitious development projects to keep in pace with the aspirational development of the region.
  • The objective of this year’s summit is to assess the gaps between the state of economic development and the progress achieved so far in healthcare.
  • Identify the measures in as many areas as possible starting from basic sanitation, hygiene, nutrition etc. ending up with technology.
  • This requires a fundamental review and synchronization of the Central and State healthcare polices, and the participation of all the healthcare stakeholders.
  • Finally, the attempt is to put on the table some recommendations on the measures needed in the short term, medium term and long term for a holistic approach to the challenges
  • Apart from the North East, there are areas such as technologies which will throw up opportunities with Pan India relevance in terms of service providers, practitioners and enablers.

The Event:

On the first day, 16th December the discussions will revolve around “Health for Development” and on the following day 17th December, the emphasis will be on ““Tech for Saving Lives”.

Probable Focused Sessions for the seminar:

  • Health as a critical enabler for economic development
  • Health as a most important factor for inclusive growth
  • Health as a pre requisite for the strategic prosperity of the North East
  • Healthcare and its ever-deepening interplay with Technology

As has been the case with the earlier editions, these events have attracted large representation from stakeholders and doctors, administrators, health experts, specialists, medical equipment suppliers, health insurers. This year we expect an even larger participation triggered amongst other things by the disastrous pandemic raging for the last 2 years.

We are very hopeful that you and your colleagues will attend the event and make use of the opportunity to interact with others from the industry. We would also request you to financially support an event of this scale and relevance.

Best wishes and regards,
