CHANGING SECURITY PARADIGM IN NORTH EAST ÌNDIA - IMPLICATIONS & IMPERATIVES
A Seminar on ‘Changing Security Paradigm in North East India - Implications and Imperatives’ was organized by Assam Rifles at Imphal on 05 Dec 2019 which was attended by Hon’ble Governor of Manipur, and other eminent citizens from different walks of life.

The Chief Guest, Dr Najma Heptulla, Hon’ble Governor of Manipur, in her keynote address, emphasized on the urgent need to arrive at the way forward for peace and prosperity in Manipur by amalgamation of divergent views from varied sections of the society. This could lead to Manipur rightly becoming the “Nongpok Thong” or the Gateway to South East Asia.
While addressing the august audience during the welcome address, Lt Gen Sukhdeep Sangwan, SM**, Director General Assam Rifles called for all sections of the society to unite against the evil designs of anti-national elements during these testing times, so as to surge on the path of progress and create an enabling environment for Manipur to become the pivot in India’s Act-East policy.
Eminent persons and experts who addressed the seminar included Dr Inder Jit Singh, Secretary DoNER Govt of India, Ms Vasudha Gupta, Director General PIB and Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, Director General, Infantry. The notable veterans who also spoke, included Mr KC Verma, Former IB & RAW Secy, two former Army Commanders Lt Gen AK Sahni &Lt Gen KJ Singh, Lt Gen JR Mukherjee, Lt Gen KH Singh and Maj Gen Arun Roye.
This is the first time that a Seminar at this scale and magnitude was organised in Imphal by Assam Rifles.
